Parking Lot Garden after the Garden Tour of 15 July 2017
Just after planting in June 2015
The Parking Lot Garden is filled
with native plants arranged randomly. Plants favouring drier conditions were
placed at the east end (foreground) while moisture loving species were planted at the
western end of the garden. Please walk around the perimeter of the garden as
you may see and hear many insects attracted to this area. Recall the silence of
the grassy areas of Riel House. Consider that native plants such as these once
grew from here to the foothills of Alberta, over 1500 kilometers westward.
