As we were exploring the property on our first day, the rabbits were just in front of us. Just far enough away that we could not frighten them. This one is collecting dried grass with which to build a nest. When should we trap them? Now, before the nest is built? After, when the babies are sufficiently mature so that they will survive if we trap their mother? The Riel family did not have this problem since they trapped rabbits for dinner. There were free roaming dogs in 1886. There were foxes and coyotes in this area in 1886.
